Several DSD athletes competed in the British Masters Championships in London on the weekend of 7/8th March. This event offered ideal preparation for the European Championships, which will be held in Ancona, Italy from 25th - 29th March. Unfortunately Kevin Byrne missed his flight to London (note to diary - new alarm clock needed Kevin!). Evergreen Michael McGarry did make it to London and came 1st in the M75 discus with a throw of 27.01m; 2nd in the shot with 9.12m & 2nd in the hammer with 28.84m. Lucy Moore came 3rd in the shot with 9.67m (pb); 3rd in the weight throw - 9.53m (Irish Age Group best) and 3rd in the HJ - 1.24m. Our UK based Masters Athletes also did well. Pat Logan was 2nd in the M45 60m in 7.40 sec and 4th in the 200m in 24.41 secs. Wally Franklyn won the M55 60m in 7.91 secs.
