Closer to home the National Road Relays in Raheny were held in great conditions on Sunday afternoon. Hard to believe but prior to Sunday this is a title we had never held! Enter our Senior Women’s team of Hazel Murphy, Linda Byrne and Aoife Byrne to not only dominate the race from the gun but also set a new course record! Not a bad way to claim a first title. The women’s B team of Ruth Mills, Maire Nic Amhlaoibh and Bryony Treston won the battle of the B teams and took 12th spot overall.
On the men’s side a very strong line up was decimated by injury and illness in the lead up to the race. In these circumstances to be able to enter 2 senior men’s teams was an achievement in itself. With a mostly novice line-up some valuable experience was gained as we took home 12th and 22nd spots. |
