 ***Updated with photos by John Denny***Well done to our DSD athletes on their performances in the European Cross Country Championships in Albufeira, Portugal, today. Pride of place for DSD goes to Brendan O'Neill who was on the U/23 mens gold medal winning team for Ireland, Brendan was second Irishman in 13th place, behind David McCarthy in 11th. Historic result for Ireland and great for Brendan. In the Senior mens race, Joe Sweeney had a solid performance when leading the Irish challenge with a 21st place finish. Emmet Jennings will be pleased with his run, finishing 4th Irishman in 42nd place with Ireland finishing 5th out of 17 teams. Bryony Treston will likewise be pleased with her 46th place in the U/23 womens race where unfortunately Ireland did not have a team. Fiona McKenna also fought hard to earn her 71st place also coming home as 4th Irishwoman. Hazel Murphy retired from the senior womens race, where Fionnuala Britton finished 4th overall after a hard fought race. News on AAI Website and full results on the EAAF Website.
