**Updated 28/06/2010 with Photos by John Denny (see bottom of article) - Alan** Pride of place today goes to our two steeplechasers! Emmet Jennings struck gold in the junior event, winning in 9:28.46, while Rob Corbally won the u/23 event in 9:35.66. Sinead Denny got two silver medals - in the Junior 400m (58.42) and 800m (2:15.06). Breandan O'Neill also got silver, this time in the u/23 1500m (3:50.77). Bronze medals were won by Mark Kavanagh in the 100m (11.07 (+2.3) & 200m (22.28 (-2.2) The sprinters had to deal with swirling wind conditions, as can be seen by the wind readings in Mark's two races! Patch Phelan smashed his 200m pb, running 21.57 (+0.3). He also placed 5th in a competitive 100m (11.05(-1.8). Bronze medals were won by Ryan Jennings in the Junior triple jump (10.63m) and by Ciaran Cronin in the u/23. Ciaran also smashed his pb, clearing 12.74m. The final DSD medal was also a bronze and went to Bryony Treston in a great new pb of 4:37.16 in the u/23 1500m. Well done Bryony! Finally, a fine 4th place was gained by Joe Dowling in the Junior 400m (49.42). Joe has two more years left in this age group to improve on today's performance! Well done to all of the athletes and their coaches! |
