D.S.D. athletes representing  their various schools had a very successful day at the D.C.U. Invitational Cross Country Meeting on Wednesday 27th January.

First in action in the minor girls was Doireann Mullaney, who finished a gallant 2nd after leading all the way to the last 150m.  In the Junior Girls Sarah Fitzpatrick had a great victory, followed closely home by Una Mary Deering in 4th place.  Patrick Elliott (minor boys) was just run out of top spot, finishing 3rd in a field of 200 runners, - Dermot O'Kellly ws 8th and Liam Fitzpatrick 10th in the same race.  Siofra Cleirigh Buttner put up the best performance of the day in the U.17 girls with a comprehensive victory, with Megan Ryan also at her best finishing 6th and with Soracha Humphries in 8th place they took the team title for Coláiste Iosagáin.  Niamh Denny took control of the Senior Girls race on the last lap and raced to her first win of the year.  Laura Hannigan 7th, Carol Huet 9th and Lisa Comerford 10th combined to take the senior girls' title for Loreta Foxrock.  Emmet Jennings was in commanding form, fresh from his European Championship exploits, and led all the way to win the Senior Boys race. Well done to all!.
