Report by Lucy/Liz : Congratulations all our athletes who competed in the weekends championships in Santry. The conditions were sunny but windy and particular mention must go to our medal winners : Maria McCambridge on her first place in the 5,000m in 16.30.54; Jonathon Miller coming 2nd in the 400mh in 52.24 secs, easily his best time of the year; and Avril Dillon 3rd in the 100mh in 15.49 secs in what was her first race over the barriers this season.
Day 1 : Pick of the bunch was Deanna O'Byrne, who ran a pb of 22.73 in his heat of the 200m, to progress to the final, where he ran another pb to come 8th on 22.71 secs. Also running were the Cowzer brothers. Shane ran 2:01.13 for 7th place in his heat of the 800m, while Neil ran 1:58.69 for 5th place in his heat. Jonathon Miller came 2nd in his heat of the 400mh in 54.30 to qualify for tomorrow's final. Andy Kidd was 4th in the same heat in 56.57 but didn't progress. John Crowley ran 21.10 sec for 4th in his heat of the 200m and John Eves ran a typically gutsy race in the 10,000m (time/place not available just yet). David Gillick warmed up for the 200m but felt a niggle in his knee, so pulled out as a precaution.
