Possibly lost in the shower of immensely impressive results from around the globe last weekend was a trio of bordering on world class runs from our very own Hazel Murphy, Maria Mc Cambridge and Linda Byrne. Hazel and Linda recorded pbs of 4.15 and 4.17 respectively in Neerpelt, Belgium, whilst Maria posted a seasons best of 4.16 at the BMC meet in Manchester as she continues preparation for a crack at the Olympic Standard for 5,000m. We need to get the pens ready to re-write the record books soon I reckon - the days are numbered for the club record of 4.10.50. Other notable results from the weekend - David Gilick's 45.65 in Geneva, truly world class. Also in Geneva Nick Hogan's 47.98 puts him 7th on this season's Irish 400m rankings and Jonathon Miller's 54.23 effort over 400m hurdles fell just shy of his season's best. Report by John Eves |
