D.S.D., relay teams were in sensational form in Athlone yesterday with six wins, three seconds and two thirds, and setting three national relay records. Our U.15 girls of Laura Gallagher, Hannah Murray, Erica Doyle and Aimee Kenna set the ball rolling with superb sprinting and baton changing, in both the semi-final and final, to take gold at 4 x 100m (50.37). This was followed by U.17 boys team: Ciaran Carthy, Ben Jones, Brian Maguire and Seamus Fenton, who set a national record, when winning the U.17 boys 4 x 400m (3.32.02), - the old record of 3.37.80 was set in 2010 by Dundrum South Dublin AC! The next win and record came from our U.18 girls 4 x 400m; Orla Walsh, Molly Hourihan, Ruth-Anne Shannon and Nicole Gallagher (4.05.27). U.18 boys 4x400m produced the third record of the day with Ciaran Haverty, Naoise Moynihan O’Bradaigh, Ciaran Carthy and Ben Jones (3.28.41). Our U.19 girls 4x400m also finished 1st; Niamh Gowing; Katie Magee, Orla Walsh and Ruth-Anne Shannon (4.07.25). D.S.D's 6th win of the day was registered by U.19 Boys 4x400m: Paul O’Callaghan, Luc Gray, Nathan Doyle and Naoise 0’Bradaigh (3.40.76).
Silver medals were won by U.17 boys 4x100m (44.87); U.18 girls 4x100 (50.67); U.19 boys 4x100 (45.24).
In third place were the U.16 girls (51.53); U.16 boys 4x100m (46.61).
U.19 girls 4x100 4th and U.15 boys 4x100m 5th.
