D.S.D., added five more names, to their extensive International portfolio, with fantastic performances from our young athletes, at the Tailteann Games in Santry, on Saturday.
The feature of these performances was the range of events covered from sprints, hurdles and middle distance. In the middle distance Morgan Clarkson impressed in the boys 1500m Steeplechase finishing 1st in 4.41.00; with Eimear Maher running a great race in the girls 3,000m to win in 10.35.35. Faye Dervan finished 9th in the 1500m 4.55.82.
Gavin Doran ran up to his top form in the 200m, with great finish, to grab 1st in a time of 22.40 (PB). Laura Gallagher finished a gallant 2nd in the 300m hurdles 45.43; to cement her place on the Irish Schools Team. She also ran on the Leinster 4x300m relay team, which finished 3rd, and ran a fine race in the 80m hurdles finishing 6th. Cara Murphy also ran a very good 300m hurdles race, finishing close to Laura, in 3rd place 45.85.
Probably the top performance for the club, was that of Cian Dunne, who won the boys 400m hurdles, in a time of 55.53, knocking two seconds off his previous best, a top time for a 16 year old.
They will now look forward to moving up to the next level, when they compete on the Irish Schools team, in the Home Countries International on the 20th July at Swansea University.
Congratulations to all!
