Dublin Juv. Indoor Results – 10th, 11th & 12th February, 2017.

First off, congratulations to all those that took part in last weekend’s Dublin Indoor Championships.  Whether you won a medal or not, you all did DSD proud!  We were delighted to see such a strong DSD turn out over the weekend and it was all more pleasurable to see athletes taking part in new events.  With a few showing a hidden talent for different disciplines.

The club had a very successful medal haul throughout the weekend, but the relays certainly showed the club’s competitive strength.  Over the course of Friday evening DSD medalled in 15 of the 20 relay finals (10 Gold, 4 Silver & 1 Bronze).  This set the tone for the rest of the weekend, in the T&F events on Saturday and Sunday the medal tally was 23 Gold, 22 Silver & 19 Bronze.  Well done to all!

Indoor All Ireland Championships – 25th & 26th March and 1st April, 2017.

The U9 – U11 do not progress to the Indoor All Ireland.  The first 4 in each event U12 – U19 are eligible to compete in National finals with the exception of the 600m where only the first 3 are permitted from each Region and only the first 3 relay teams in each age group qualify.

Under AAI rules in the All Ireland Championships, athletes can compete in a max of 3 individual events plus a relay.  Therefore, if you have qualified for more than 3 individual events you need to specify your preferred 3 events.  Please advise Linda (linda.dunne232@gmail.com), of your preferred 3 events without delay.

Indoor All Ireland events timetable.

Dublin Indoor Championships 10th, 11th & 12th Feb.

Attached is a list of all Juvenile Athletes and their individual entries.  Relays and some field events for the U17 to U19’s will be held on Day 1, Friday evening (10th Feb).  All other individual events are on Day 2 and Day 3 (Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th Feb).  Please refer to timetables below for time and day of your event.  Remember event times are estimated and are subject to change without notice, therefore it is important that you are in attendance at least 1 hour before your first event.

Entries List

A quick checklist:

  • All athletes must wear their DSD singlet. (Available to purchase at training this Wednesday in Irishtown or Thursday in BCS – Juvenile Singlets cost €20.)

  • Spikes must be 5mm. (Ensure spikes/runners are clean)

  • Bring food/water in case of delays. (No food consumed in the track/viewing area, except water)

    PARENTS PLEASE NOTE:

It should be noted the viewing area of Abbotstown has limited space.  We will try keep DSD athletes in the same area, but this may be difficult. With this in mind, it is expected that a parent/minder be present to ensure their child is supervised and directed to their event when announced. Coaches will be present to warm up the kids. We appreciate your help in this matter.

Finally, the Dublin Athletic Board require all clubs to provide a number of volunteers to steward/officiate during the championships.  Without these volunteers the schedule of events will be delayed, as such ‘many hands make light work!’  Coaches are busy preparing the athletes for their events, and are unable to put themselves forward for stewarding therefore we look to parents to fill this gap.  It would be much appreciated you accept a task when asked, or even better put yourself forward!

    Timetables as follows:

    Day 1 – Friday evening.

    Day 2 – Saturday & Day 3 – Sunday.
