Meghan wins Dublin C.C!

Meghan Ryan was the outstanding performer for D.S.D at the Dublin Cross Country Championships, at Trinity Grounds, Santry, on Sunday, following a titanic battle with Lauren Tinkler, D.C.H. Meghan sprinted clear over the last 300m to register her first Dublin Senior title. Niamh Devlin finished 18th, and due to injury we were unable to field a complete team. In the Junior Women’s race Emma McEvoy followed up on her victory in the U.18 Dublin Championships with another impressive display of front running from half way, to place herself in contention for a spot in the National Junior Team, for the European Cross County Championships to be held in Dublin on 12th December. D.S.D., were comprehensive team winners with Eimear Maher 4th, Saoirse O’Brien 8th and Emma Goddard 9th, to set themselves up as favourites for Nationals in November. Our Senior Men’s team finished 2nd to Clonliffe, with Paul O’Donnell and Emmet Jennings leading the way throughout the 10k race. Paul, a clear 2nd as he entered the tunnel, was directed the wrong way, and in the end he had to settle for 3rd place; Emmet 5th, Killian 12th and Robert Corbally 18th completed the scoring team, with Michael McCarthy 22nd and Patrick MacGabhann 29th. D.S.D’s Junior Men’s team were denuded with injuries, but had good performances from Jack McGlone 10th; Eanna O’Bradaigh 12th and Morgan Clarkson 16th. With everybody back on board, they will look forward to challenging at Nationals. Well done to all! Report by Eddie McDonagh
