Junior refers to the U20 age group with athletes ranging in age from 16 to 19 years.
Members in the training groups for this section must be 18 years and over, however any athlete aged 16 years and over in the year of competition can compete in U20 and Senior competitions.
U23 athletes range in age from 20 to 22 years.
The Junior (U20) and U23 sections are a vital part in the transition of an athlete from Juvenile to Senior athletics.
Athletes in this group have usually specialised in a specific event. DSD has Athletics Ireland qualified coaches in each event group which caters for Sprints, Endurance, Jumps, Throws and walks groups. All event groups are available and any athlete is welcome to join these groups, regardless of ability or ambition.
Coaches will work with athletes to set achievable goals and form a training plan and regime to give the best possible chance of achieving their goals.
