DSD Masters strike it rich in Belfast!

A master class of 7 DSD Masters athletes travelled North last weekend to compete in the Northern Ireland Masters Championships on Sat 26th June 2021. They returned laden down with bling! Lucy Moore-Fox - W60 Gold - Weight Throw - 10.23m (a new Irish age group record - up from 9.34m last year); Gold - Hammer - 24.85m (SB) Silver - Shot Put - 7.60m Silver - LJ - 2.96m (her 1st LJ competition in 10 years)! Mary Gowing - W50 Bronze in 100m (then a dash into Belfast with her daughter Niamh for some quality time before Niamh's return to Providence in US, where she is on a Hockey scholarship). Vigetta Moran - W45 Silver - Hammer, Silver - Shot Putt 6.58m (great PB), Silver - Weight Throw 5.82m. (PB) Avril Dillon - W40 Gold - 100m (13.00) Gold - 80m Hurdles (12.61). Peadar McGing - M65 The eldest of the touring party and the most successful of the day, bringing home 5 Gold, 1 Silver and a new Irish age group record! Gold - 100m hurdles (18.81 new Irish age group record; previous record stood since 2012) Gold - Hammer (distance private 😉) Gold - 300m hurdles (50.77 seconds) Gold - HIgh jump (1.34m) Gold - Triple jump (9.21m) Silver - 400m (68.08 secs). Shane Sheridan - M60 Gold - 100m Gold - 200m - well ahead of nearest rivals. Ronan Gately - M50 Bronze - 100m Bronze - 200m Overall, it was a wonderful day of competition and friendship in the beautiful surrounds that is the Mary Peters Track in Belfast.
