Hiko 1st in Dunshaughlin

The Dunshaughlin 10k Road Race could be labelled as one of the best of it’s kind for organization and magnificent competition, as Hiko Tonosa and Mick Clohisey (Raheny) fought all the way from start to finish, with only a second gap between them at the finish line. Peter Somba (Dunboyne) featured in the early stages, but got burnt off after 7k, as the titantic battle continued up front. Olympian, Clohisey, who is known for his toughness forced the pace with Hiko at his side, and even went 5 metres up as they approached the last mile. Hiko’s acceleration over the last 300m was enough to see him home as he knocked 40 seconds off his last year’s win in a fantastic time of 29.29. A large number of D.S.D. athletes participated in the Michael Manning Memorial Dunshaughlin 10k, results as follow: Women: 6 Niamh Devlin 36.55; 7 Maria McCambridge 1st F40 37.06; F40 25 Joyce Tracey 48.03; F45 21 Maria O’Connor 49.14; 52 Brona Halpenny 58.39; F50 1 Cathryn Brady 40.06; 8 Erica Calder 47.04; F55 8 Carol Keegan 54.32; F60 3rd Susan Brennan 52.33; 27 Karen O’Donohoe Men: 1 Hiko Tonosa 29.29; 31 Wishu Gebresellasie 33.51; 62 Ed Hayes 35.09; 111 Eoin Fogarty 37.10; 162 John Sloan 38.34; 195 Barry OGrady 39.37; 256 James Berry 41.21; 267 Robert Wynne 41.50; 318 Gavin O’Flaherty 43.21; 324 Thomas Roche 43.33; 332 Colm Moriarty 43.51; 400 David O’Leary 46.10; 459 Dean Browne 47.48; 611 Eoin Daly 52.27; 640 Fintan Hourihan 53.47.
