Well done to all D.S.D. athletes who competed so well for their colleges in the IUAA Championships in Belfast on Friday and Saturday. Paul O’Donnell (UCD) won the 3,000m S/Chase in 9.22.55, despite only a small amount of training over the hurdles. Another very good performance was registered by Luke McCann (UCD) in the 1500m, winning in a time of 4.03.06. Kate Doherty (Trinity) was the winner of the combined events, finishing 3rd 100m hurdles in 14.49 (PB), 3rd Long Jump 5.28 and also 3rd High Jump 1.60. Aengus Meldon (Galway) was 2nd 800m 1.55. Eimear Fitzpatrick (UU) 2nd S/Chase 11.59. Joe Halwax (Dundalk) 3rd 400m hurdles 53.30; with David Dagg (UCD) 6th 57.00. Katie Berney was on the DCU 4 x 100m team, which finished 2nd and Sadhbh McCarrick the UCD 4 x 400 team 3rd. Ruadhán O’Gráda (UCD) was 9th 1500m 4.12.98. Afterwards they all scrubbed up well – as can be seen from photo!
