National Juvenile Track & Field

Hero for D.S.D at the National Juvenile Track & Field Championships yesterday was Cian Dunne, who came away with a second gold medal, in the 250m hurdles, to add to his gold of last weekend for the 100m hurdles, and his bronze in the 100m sprint, achieving personal bests in all events. Emma Ryan was also in top form, adding another silver medal for 1500m to her silver of last week in the 800m. The battle for gold was only decided in the last 20m as Emma fought her way to the finish line. Gavin Doran was in top condition for his 200m final, winning bronze with new PB. Molly Hourihan also picked up a gallant bronze in the 400m hurdles. Aaron Donnelly took to the flat 1500m this week after winning gold last week in the steeplechase. He was unable to add to his medal tally finishing 4th in a very competitive race. Jamie Byrne knocked a whopping 16 seconds off his PB in the U.14 1500m for a 6th place finish in a top class field. Also reaching finals in their respective events were Morgan Clarkson and Cian O’Sullivan U.16 1500m and Faye Dervan U.17 1500m, Saoirse O’Brien U.14 1500m, with Claudia Moran and Hannah Murray also putting in great efforts in the 250m hurdles and Tobi Edward 200m.
