Silver for Sophia in Derry!
A high degree of physical and mental endurance was required yesterday in Templemore, Derry, to tackle the atrocious weather conditions, at the National Senior & Even Age Juvenile Cross Country Championships. A big “well done” to all our athletes, parents and coaches who braved the elements. Our U.12 girls were the first to go, and this team produced a very gutsy performance, led home by Sophia Stanley, who was just pipped for 1 st place. Sophia ran a very brave race, improving on her 4 th place of last year. The team just missed out on the medals finishing in 4 th place. Sophia won silver with Dublin, and was joined by team mate Ciara Culhane, with Dylan McCambridge Crossan winning gold with the Dublin team. Results: U.12 Girls 2 nd Sophia Stanley; 33 rd Ciara Culhane; 53 rd Hannah O’Reilly; 93 rd Ellen McGlinchey (Sophia and Ciara Dublin Silver) U.12 Boys: 82 nd Cormac Duffy U.14 Girls 98 th Freya Galvin U.14 Boys 77 th Luke Jensen U.16 Girls 66 th Olivia Butler; 77 th Skye McConnon; 86 th Keela Singleton; 91 st Amy Luisa O’Brien Team 13 th U.16 Boys 23 rd Dylan McCambridge Crossan; 45 th Conor Pimlott; 58 th Patrick Hosey; 60 th Liam O’Flaherty Team 5 th (Dylan Dublin Gold) U.18 Boys 44 th Ewan Kennedy
