The club’s 2019 Pentathlon will be held in Abbotstown Indoor Arena on Saturday 19th January, 2019. This is a DSD only event and entry is open to all club members from U12 (born 2008) up to U18 (born 2002). There is an entry charge of €5 per athlete payable on the day.
The format of the Club Pentathlon is as follows:
· Choice of one running event:
o 60m sprint (U12’s only)
o 60m Hurdles (U13 – U18)
o 800m (U12 – U18)
· Choice of one jumping event:
o Long Jump (U12 – U18)
o High Jump (U12 – U18)
· All athletes do the Shot Putt.
The competition is a relaxed fun day for all. It is a great opportunity to try a new event and our coaches are on hand to give advice. Don’t be afraid to try something new, it’s all a bit of FUN!
Time allowing, we may have a relay race at the end. This will be decided on the day.
Parents, our coaches and some senior/master athletes have agreed to help on the day, but we need your help too. We would appreciate if you put your name forward to help on the day – don’t worry about any experience as you’ll be assisting a senior coach. The only thing we expect is a smile, good sense of fun and perhaps a little muscle to move hurdles or rake the sand.
