DSD Events, which owns and operates the Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon, made an exciting announcement on 8th March, International Women’s Day. The 2021 Women’s Mini Marathon is going virtual!
The 2020 virtual experience was highly successful and, in light of the continuing pandemic and the restrictions that will inevitably remain in place for large gatherings - and the WMM is the most populated road race in Ireland - they have decided to go virtual once again.
Hopefully we will see the streets of Dublin thronging with participants in the 2022 Women’s Mini Marathon! In the meantime, let’s make the 2021 Virtual Mini Marathon a success as there are so many worthy charities on the island of Ireland that depend on it for their fundraising campaigns.
Here is the text of the Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon’s announcement:
"We’re delighted to announce that we will be going virtual again for the second time, following the success of last year’s event, which saw over 20,000 women participate. The 2021 Vhi Virtual Women’s Mini Marathon will take place in September. We have some very exciting plans for the virtual event this year, and we hope you’ll be able to join us later in the year. We’ll be letting you know all the details in the coming weeks, so watch this space!
The 2021 Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon will not go ahead on the June Bank Holiday weekend. The health and safety of our participants is always our highest priority, and it is with this in mind that we have taken this tough decision.
Anyone who already has an entry for this event (rolled over from the cancellation of last year’s race), has a choice of options for their entry.
Option A: Do nothing! If you wish to join us next year, your existing ticket will secure your place for the long awaited 2022 event. Simply ignore this mail and we will automatically roll it forward.
Option B: Apply for a full refund. If you can't wait, we understand. To request a refund, please email us at info@vhiwomensminimarathon.ie no later than Wednesday 31st March, and we will organise the refund.
Best wishes,
The Vhi Women's Mini Marathon Team"
