The first Cross Country League of the 2019 season was held in the beautiful setting of Newbridge House, Donabate, on Sunday. DSD had 30 runners on a very well laid out course, in dry conditions.
We had some excellent results from our younger runners which were followed by very impressive wins by Isabella and Jamie, and Jevae, who battled with a Tallaght athlete over the last 100m, leaving the rest of the field behind with Jevae winning at the line.
Results as follows;
Under 9 Girls
Becky Isaac 3rd followed home by Charlotte, Aoife and Cara.
Under 9 Boys
A great performance by Luca Moran (3rd) and Ewan McClafferty (6th).
Under 10 Girls
Well done to Aoife Long in 7th and Anna Kelleher 9th in a very big field on the day.
Under 10 Boys
Conn McCloskey and Oran O’Sullivan had great performances to finish 3rd and 5th, with Harry Deally and Dylan Costello close behind them they will have a good team for the season ahead.
Under 11 Girls
Katherine, Megan and Alex all ran well in the biggest field of the day.
Under 11 Boys
John McHenry was our only DSD runner in this race and he put in a really strong finish and got himself into the top 10.
Under 12 Girls
Well done to Eabha and Lauren who both had encouraging runs to build on.
Under 12 Boys
Tom Deally and Daniel Conway both gave it their all, right to the line and with Tom 12th and Daniel just behind him, these are two performance to build a team around.
Under 13 Girls
Well done to Brooke Moran who finished well up the field showing great progress.
Under 13th Boys
Sean Healy gave his usual strong run to finish in the top 10 and with Dara Lawerence just a couple of places behind him this was a good performance from the boys.
Under 14 Girls
Grace Prenter , on her first run for sometime due to injury, had a lovely run and finished in great shape with a good cross county season to look forward to.
Under 15 Girls
A great win for Isabella as she glided around the course and left the field in her wake and a great start to her season.
Under 15 Boys
A race full of promise for DSD as Jamie Byrne won in fine style, Tristan (returning from injury) with a fine run finishing 4th and Jim Finlay working his way through the field in the last 600m to finish in an impressive 6th place. A strong team here for the season.
U16 Boys
This race was the finish of the day and Jevae dug deep to take the win with Dylan Ryan coming from mid division to finish in the top 10.
Well done to all!
