DSD hosts Schools Cross Country

On Wednesday 18th October the DSD campus opened its doors to 500 secondary school students to race on our fantastic trails. Students from 20 local schools battled it out on our undulating trails which were a big hit with the athletes who enjoyed the variety our campus had to offer.

We hosted 8 races for 1st-4th years with the largest field being the 1st year girls who were spread across 3 races. This event is crucial to the development of endurance running in our local area and to encourage teenagers to try out cross country.

The event organised by Donal Hennigan and Meghan Ryan went off without a hitch thanks to our fantastic volunteers from the wider Club! We would particularly like to thank Dave Taylor who worked as our schools liaison and to our members who were there on the day helping to make the event a great success.

See here for fantastic photos of the event taken by Lindie Naughton.

And a few more here!
