Following on from the recent installation of the temporary car park to allow access to the site, the Campus Build Team has been pushing forward with the design phase and enabling works associated with Phase 1 (the running track – and more).
The Team has engaged with the ESB and our neighbours to sink underground the large power cables that are running in line with the proposed sports hall.
Bertie the badger’s home has been located and is cordoned off so we don’t disturb him as we build our trails!
We have had the ecologist up climbing trees to survey and make sure our bats are safe and well and we will be installing 20 bat boxes in the coming weeks in case they are looking for a new place to stay.
We have had a second survey of the trees by the arborist, identified all works necessary and we have King Tree Services on site over the past month clearing and removing dangerous trees ahead of the nesting season at the end of February.
Our sports consultant has been working with the DSD coaches under our Head Coach, Ed Carthy, to finalise the track requirements and over the next two months the detailed design stage should be complete with the help of our QS, engineers and Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council.
In the meantime, the Campus Development Team is availing of the number-crunching expertise of Eoin Carroll (M&T) to produce models that help us understand how to make best use of the Campus facilities as DSD grows into the future.
