Dublin Juv T&F Championships 2023 Day 5 Saturday 17th June Tallaght AC

Updated: Jun 16, 2023

Firstly – thank you for your patience with the multiple emails regarding the Dublin Championships – it has been a long program over 7 days in 3 different venues! Cecil and the Competition Team are making amendments to ensure the schedule for Day 5 runs in a timely manner.

With over 600 athletes and over 1000 individual event entries for Day 5 – it will be a long day on Saturday. The core group of Dublin Juvenile Competition officials will be working for the duration of the competition – but they will need support from Club Volunteers in order to ensure that the day runs smoothly.

I was asked to volunteer on the track myself last night at the Dublin Even Age Relay Championships as the Competition Team were short on officials and I also asked another of our parents to assist – we would urge parents to put themselves forward ahead of time to avoid having to ask on the day.

Having a schedule of volunteers ahead of competition ensures the day runs smoothly and there are no undue delays appealing for officials on the day so that an event can begin.

We realise the day will be long and we do not expect any parent volunteer to make themselves available for the entire day – to that end we do need more parents to put their names forward so we have a team of officials that can rotate during the day to different events as required.

We are always most grateful to all our volunteers who put themselves forward on competition days and to our coaches who are generous with their time every week during the athletics season.

This is a personal request for help and assistance – volunteers are still required on Saturday – and each Club is required to provide officials.

A sincere thank you to those who have already put their names forward – but if you haven’t we ask you to look at when you will be available during the day – as more volunteers will be required.

Please also advise us ASAP if there are any amendments to your athlete’s entries so that we can update Cecil.

Dublin Juvenile T&F Championships 2023

Day 5 Saturday 17th June

Tallaght AC

Please note amendments to initial timetable

Athletes should arrive at least one hour before their first event to allow time to:

  • collect your number from the DSD Official

  • and to allow sufficient time for warm-up

Please remember events can be brought forward by up to 45mins before scheduled times, therefore it is important to be there at least 1 hour before.

Numbers will be collected by DSD Club Official and distributed to each athlete on check-in.

DSD vest must be worn when competing.

PARKING

Parking is available in the school yard - entrance on the right before the entrance gate to Tallaght Track and when full on Airton Road which is only a short walk from the venue.

Note the school car park closes at 20:00.

We do not have permission to use the Astro Park or Tallaght College car parks on the day. On Day 1 several cars were parked without permission in these car parks which closed at 17:00, resulting in a number of cars being locked.

Please note NO DOGS are allowed inside the track fenced area at Tallaght AC.

Note that Gardai have advised that cars parked illegally on cycle and foot paths will be fined.

Please be advised, the timetable is subject to change without notice, events could be earlier or later than the scheduled time.

Please remember that all officials are volunteers and to respect their requests and direction during the Championships.
