UPDATED: National Juv. XC Relays & Dublin Juvenile Even Age XC Championships Results 2023

Updated: Oct 27, 2023

Hi all,

Firstly we would like to congratulate all DSDAC athletes who took part in the Dublin Juvenile Even Age Cross Country Championships in Abbotstown last Sunday - for some it was their first Championships while others are seasoned competitors – we were delighted to see so many smiling faces during the day.

An enormous thank you must go out to our DSD volunteers on the day – Adriele, Alan, Christina, Conor, David, Graham, Lenka, Sheelagh, Triona – without the generosity and active participation of all Clubs in providing volunteers these events could not go ahead. The Dublin County Board would also like to extend their thanks to all who officiated on Sunday.

Thank you also must go to our coaches for their commitment and dedication who ensured that their athletes were well prepared for the Championships and were full of enthusiasm and support on the day!

A special mention and many congratulations must go to the athletes and teams who won medals on the day and will be going on to represent the Club at the National Juvenile Even Age Cross Country Championships which will be held in Gowran Demesne, Kilkenny on Sunday 19th November 2023.

Qualifying Positions:

  • The top 10 in the U12/14/16/18 age groups qualify to represent Dublin as a County team.

  • The top 12 in the U12/14/16/18 age groups qualify to represent Dublin as a Provincial team.

  • The first 4 teams qualify for the Inter Clubs in the same age groups.

10 athletes will be representing Dublin County across 4 Age Groups with all 5 DSD Teams that competed on the day going on to represent the Club at Nationals. Coaches will be in touch to confirm the teams that will be competing at Nationals.

Individual Qualifying Athletes Please Confirm Your availability for Sunday 19th November 2023.

If individual athletes could confirm their availability for Nationals ASAP please.

National Cross-Country Relays:

Congratulations must also go to our 9 DSD Relays Teams who participated in the National Uneven Age Inter Club and Even Age Mixed Relay Championships which were also held on the same day.

IMPORTANT: Please consider your Team Mates:

A reminder for parents – if you have entered your child in a Competition – please let us know if they are not able to compete. Thank you to the parents who advised us in advance that they had to withdraw their athlete from the Dublin Even Age XC Championships. We would like to remind parents that in Cross Country you’re not only competing as an individual, but also as a Team. A club team is made up of 6 athletes with the first 4 across the finish line scoring the points. With the top 4 Club Teams then progressing through to the National Championships. Unfortunately, on Sunday there were several athletes who did not show up on the day or let us know in advance that they would not be competing. This meant their Club Team-Mates were at a disadvantage without the minimum required number to field a Club Team and therefore missed out on the opportunity to qualify for Nationals. Where we know in advance of withdrawals, we try to find a replacement to ensure a full team is on course. We understand something may arise at the last minute preventing an athlete from competing, but we ask that you let us know as soon as possible. If you enter any competition, where possible please give as much notice of your withdrawal.

Congratulations again to all athletes and we look forward to Nationals in Kilkenny next month!
