Dublin Juvenile Track & Field League 2
Saturday 10th May, 2025
Tallaght Athletics Club Track
We thank you for your patience while we have been waiting for finalised communication from the Dublin Juvenile Organising Committee for this weekend – we hope that you understand the considerable amount of organisation that goes on behind the scenes in order to coordinate a Juvenile competition.
Congratulations to all the athletes who competed in the recent League 1 in Tallaght! For some athletes it was their first T&F Competition and we look forward to League 2 this coming Saturday 10th May in Tallaght!
A sincere thankyou to all of our coaches who were in attendance on the day – we couldn’t do it without you!
And many thanks also to the parents who volunteered their time to help officiate – your generosity was most appreciated!
This weekend we again have over 200 entries from DSD athletes – for some it will be their first taste of competition, some will be trying new events and hopefully everyone will enjoy the experience!
Venue Location:
Tallaght Athletics Club Track, Bancroft Park, Greenhill Road, Tallaght, D24 EP9R
Google Maps: https://maps.app.goo.gl/oZjVdPDMFVVQvwmM7
Please note – there have been some amendments to the initial Day 2 Timetable – due to the number of entries received. Also some Sprint distances have been changed to align with the upcoming Dublin Championships (U12 to 60m and U13/U14 to 80m).
Athletes should arrive at least one hour before their first event to allow time to:
- collect your number from the DSD Official
- and to allow sufficient time for warm-up
- be ready to check in before your track event
Please remember events can be brought forward by up to 45mins before scheduled times, therefore it is important to be there at least 1 hour before.
BIB NUMBERS
· Numbers will be collected by DSD Club Official
· Athletes who competed in League 1 MUST bring their BIB NUMBER
· BIB NUMBERS should be retained for LEAGUE 3
CHECK IN
· There will be a CHECK IN operating for TRACK EVENTS
· Athletes can go directly to their FIELD EVENT when called
NOTES:
Club singlets must be worn
Be prepared for all types of weather
Bring water/food as delays can happen
Parents and supporters are not permitted on the track or infield areas.
Please cooperate with, abide by and respect the decisions of the voluntary officials and organisers of the competitions.
Everyone in attendance should help keep the facilities we use clear of rubbish. Please use rubbish bins where they are provided or bring your rubbish with you when leaving!
LEAGUES:
Track events will be decided on times – no heats/quarter or semi-finals
NOTE: There will be 2 rounds of 60m/80m/100m where first 4 athletes from Round 1 will qualify for Round 2
Field events – 3 throws/jumps per athlete
In the event of contests clashing, officials will show flexibility, ie if a competitor is involved in long jump contest and a track event/other field event is called, he/she will be facilitated to participate in both, but must inform the official(s).
VOLUNTEERS
A sincere thank you to all of our parents who have generously put their names forward to volunteer for League 2 - your generosity has made the job of providing names to the Dublin Juvenile Competition Committee so much easier and is most appreciated.
On this occasion I have endeavoured to match volunteer slots with the time that your athlete will be in attendance while also taking into consideration any specific requests where possible – as I am sure you can imagine – this is not a small undertaking.
The day has been split into a morning and afternoon session - please ensure that you arrive as requested and stay for the duration of your session – in some cases this will be to the end of an event or until the next DSD volunteer arrives to take over. Please aim to arrive a little earlier than scheduled and check in with Seamus who will be coordinating volunteers on the day.
Don’t worry if this is your first time volunteering – there will always be an expert on hand to provide guidance for each event!
We may need to call on additional volunteers during the day – if you are now in a position to give some time – perhaps you would let me know and we hope that you will consider helping out should the need arise
We would also like to thank our fantastic Coaches who have prepared their athletes so well and will be attending on the day – your commitment and dedication is most appreciated and we look forward to another day of competition at League 2!
PARKING
We encourage carpooling as parking is limited – car park spaces are available in:
· TAC Car Park
· St Marys Primary School yard (to the right of the entrance to TAC)
· TUI College Grounds (directly across from TAC). Closes at 4pm
· Additional Car Parking can be found in nearby industrial estates to the left and right off Greenhills Road, which are only a short walk from the venue.
Note that Gardai have advised that cars parked illegally on cycle and foot paths will be fined.
Please be advised, the timetable is subject to change without notice, events could be earlier or later than the scheduled time.
Please remember that all officials are volunteers and to respect their requests and direction during the Championships.
