Competition Wear

May I draw your attention to some key points regarding competition wear as per the Juvenile Competition Booklet 2023, Additional Notes issued this week and some clarifications following consultation with the Competitions Team.

  • "National apparel is to be worn only when representing Ireland at International Competition. No athlete should compete wearing Athletics Ireland shorts at a National Event” – the Competition Team are aware that Athletics Ireland are selling Joma shorts with the Athletics Ireland logo and the Call Room and Starting Team will be advised accordingly over the weekend as it has been causing recent confusion (I suggest if you have official National issue kit – do not wear it. If you have recently bought shorts from Athletics Ireland and are questioned by an official – let them know it was recently purchased.)

  • In general, shorts should be single coloured, not patterned. While a Nike/Adidas/etc logo is acceptable, multi coloured patterned shorts are not” – the Competition Team are aware it is virtually impossible to have kit without branding – however multi-coloured or patterned shorts are not acceptable (I strongly suggest no multi-coloured or patterned shorts)

  • Where possible shorts should complement the singlet, if in doubt black is always acceptable” – colours that do not compliment a Club singlet or have not been declared as official kit should be avoided (I very strongly suggest only black or navy shorts for competing)

Spikes

Please note only 5mm pyramid spikes are allowed on the Tullamore Harriers Track (see attached pic for example)
