D.S.D., were in action at many venues over the weekend, which yielded very positive results for the club.
Maria McCambridge had a great victory on Saturday at the Waterford Half Marathon in 77.45. The friendly rivalry with husband, Gary Crossan, finishing behind Maria in 37th place in 78.12, will continue on another day!
A big breakthrough for Mark Molloy saw him with his first championship gold, with victory in Tymon Park at the Dublin Intermediate Championships. Leading from the gun, Mark forged further and further ahead as the race developed, and his margin of victory was 22 seconds from Michael McCarthy of Liffey Valley. Diarmuid Meldon also had a good race in 19th place followed by Paul MacGabhann in 58th position.
Morgan Clarkson was in action for his school, Coláiste Eoin, in the C.B.S. Championships in A.L.S.A.A on Saturday over 1500m, beating the national 800m champion from St. Josephs Drogheda, in a pulsating sprint to the line. This was Morgan’s first national gold medal, as he finished 3rd at Nationals last year. Alex Flynn also had his best race to date finishing 2nd in the Intermediate boys race (3,000m). Alex is only 14 years of age and he and Morgan will race together with the D.S.D. U.15 in the National Cross Country Championships in Waterford on the 17th December. Peter Duffy returned from injury to pick up silver in the U.16 4,000m competition.
Well done to all!
