David Gillick stormed to a great 2nd place in 47.24 in the Belfast International to show that his comeback is for real. There will be a lot of nervous opposition looking over their shoulders as to the Olympic 4x400m team, which has still to be selected – go for it David! At the same meeting in Belfast Fiona Clinton 4.43 (1500m) was happy with her first track race of the season as was Meghan Ryan, who just failed to break 10.00 for 3,000m. Brandon Hargreaves finished 4th in the 1500m in 3.51.
Meanwhile on the home front Emmet Jennings won the BHAA/RTE 5 mile road race in a sparkling 25 minutes. In the same race Niamh Devlin won the women’s section, and our Masters contingent, through Cathryn Brady 1st W50 and Sheelagh Jones 2nd W55, were prominent in a fast run race.
Joe Halwax recorded an impressive 55.5 PB 400m hurdles in the Leevale Sports in Cork, and Mollie O’Reilly ran a great second leg in the Irish Junior 4×100 team in Belfast.
Well done to all!
