A Number of our Endurance athletes took to the track on Saturday at the Irish Milers Club meet in UCD.
The performance of the day came from Eimear Maher who took a massive 6 seconds off her 2 week old 1500M PB running 4.22.01
Eimear racing in a stacked field showed no fear and went out fast after the pace maker, going through the first lap in a scintillating 68 seconds.
The pace remained “hot” throughout with Eimear holding 2nd place until she succumbed to fatigue metres from the line to be pipped for 2nd finishing 3rd in a time that is inside the European Athletics Euro U23 Standard.
Also racing Saturday was Amy O’Donoghue who continued her return to form over 800m with a battling 3rd place in a time of 2.08.03.
Jamie Byrne, fresh from his 2nd place in the Senior boys 1500m at the recent School All Irelands, moved up in distance to race in the Men’s 3K, running strong and finishing in a new PB of 8.39.
Jamie was followed home by David Gormley who equalled his PB of 8.52.
Joe Hastings placed 8th in the 1 Mile (A) in 4.09.33, with Maria McCambridge 6th in the Women's 3,000m (A) with a time of 10.01.33.
