Masters’ Medal Mountain at A.I.T.

Stand out performances in Athlone at the Irish Health Life National Masters Championships, from our many medal winners, must go to Shane Sheridan 1st 60m; 200m and 400m and the runner up to Shane, in each of these events, Peadar McGing and also to Adina Gheorghiu 1st 60m and 200m. As can be seen from results below there were many other fine performances in all age categories.


Shane Sheridan: 60m: 1st 8.08; 200m 1st 28.50; 400m 1st 63.93

Peadar McGing: 60m: 2nd 8.50; 200m 2nd 28.69; 400m 2nd 63.95, 1st High Jump 1.35m, 1st Long Jump 4.26m


Sheelagh Jones: 400m: 1st 84.34; 800m 3rd 3.02.27; 1500m 2nd 6.10.10

Lucy Moore: Weight for Distance: 1st 3.85; High Jump: 1.10; Shot: 2nd 7.92 (New Irish Record in Weight for Distance)


Adina Gheorghiu: 60m: 1st 8.29; 200m: 1st 26.98 (New Irish Record in both 60m & 200m)


Kevin Byrne: 60mH 1st 10.59; L.Jump 3rd 4.53m, 2nd High Jump 1.55m


Vigetta Moran: Weight for Distance 3rd 4.20; Shot Putt 3rd 6.57


Avril Dillon: 1st 60mH 9.39; 60m 2nd 8.29 (New Irish Record in 60mH)


David Connolly: 60m 5th 8.27; 200m 5th 27.59


Ronan Gately: 60m 4th 8.32; 200m 3rd 26.51; L.Jump 4.46

M.85 Con Hearty: 3000m Walk 1st 20.24.96
