Medals Galore at Leinsters!

We had sparkling performances from D.S.D. athletes at the Leinster Schools Championships in Santry on Wednesday and Saturday last, with a large number qualifying from the All Ireland Schools Championships on the 4th June, and registering PB’s in the process.

Eimear Fitzpatrick broke the existing record for the Senior Girls 1500m S/Chase with a time of 5.05.84; also finished 3rd in the 1500m in a PB of 4.47.33. Sophie Murphy ran a great new PB in the senior 1500m 10.04.53, with Niamh Carey in 2nd place. Abi Taylor 10.04.91 (2nd) and Jodi McCann 10.14.99 (3rd) also running great new PB’s in the Inter Girls 3,000m. Paul O’Donnell ran a great race in the Senior Boys S/Chase and may have finished 1st but for a mistake at the last hurdle and had to settle for silver. Roseanne McCullough really impressed in the Inter Girls 1500m winning in 5.00.03. Grace Dervan ran a fine race in the Inter 1500m S/Chase 5.30 PB and Christian McKenna also ran a PB of 4.01.73. Adam Harvey 4th Jun 1500m 4.33 PB.

Our sprinters were also in great form with Mollie O’Reilly winning the Senior Girls400m in new PB of 56.19. James Holden impressed while winning the Inter Boys 400m in 51.07. Rachel Dunne was the winner of the Senior Girls 400mH 66.01 and finished 2nd in the 100m hurdles 15.15.74. Katie Magee, despite only returning from her Camino Walk the week before, won a very competitive Inter Girls 300m in 41.34 PB. Niamh Gowing continues to improve and finished 2nd in both 80mH and 300m hurdles 44.98 PB. Tara Jenkins won the Sen. Girls Long Jump in PB 5.40. David Dagg finished 2nd in the 400mH 59.21. Hannah Bondzio won the Minor Girls H.J 1.50, with Gill Rufli 1st L.J. 4.73. Ciaran Carthy 3rd Jun. 100mH; and 3rd Jun. 200m. Niall Prior 5th Sen. 400m 51.77 and Elliot Allen 6th Sen 100m 11.49; Lara Faber 1st Javelin 32.27; and Ailbhe Kenny 3rd H.J. 1.55.
