Killian Mooney finished an excellent 53rd in the World Mountain running championships in Italy at the weekend, placing 2nd Irishman home.
Killian was running in the “Classic” 14K race. The athletes run two loops through the Barranco de Epifanio to complete a 14 Km race with 820 meters of elevation gain, divided mainly into two ascents of about 400 meters each. Killian paced himself well throughout gaining positions over the last climb.
He was joined on the Irish team by clubmate Sarah Mulligan who completed the women’s “Classic” race in 62nd place also finishing 2nd Irish Woman home.
Well done Killian and Sarah!
